David Wilding ~ Director of Golf at Tradition National Golf Course

David Wilding is the Director of Golf at Tradition National Golf Course in Tradition South Carolina. Wilding served as First Assistant Professional at the Harbour Town Golf Links for five years and returned to the South Carolina Lowcountry after serving as the first Head Golf Professional at The Manor Golf and Country Club in Alpharetta, Georgia for the past year.

Wilding has been a Class A member of the PGA of America since 2004 and served as a Board Member of the Hilton Head Island PGA Chapter of the Carolinas Section Board of Directors. He was also the Pro Pal Director of the Hilton Head Junior Golf Association for five years. In addition, Wilding served as Chairman of the Hargray Hooked on Golf Program, which introduced the game of golf to participants at the Boys and Girls Club on Hilton Head.

“Tradition National Golf Course has something for every level of golfer and we are particularly pleased to have David Wilding leading our operations,” said David Page, President of Core Communities of South Carolina. “This talented young man has already proven his skills in the golf industry and will provide our owner/members with the high level of service and professional expertise they expect,” he added.

Wilding was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky and graduated from the University of Louisville. He currently resides on Hilton Head Island.

Jared Black ~ Apprentice Golf Professional

Jared Black graduated in December of 2007 from Methodist University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Professional Golf Management.

Expanding on his more than five years of experience in different facets of the golf business, Jared’s professional philosophy is based primarily on excellence of customer service, while incorporating the elements that he learned through his work experience at both the Broadmoor and Pinehurst Resorts.

Jared, originally from Pottsville, Pennsylvania, was excited to join the Tradition team this past January.

Professionalism and excelling through the delivery of a “unique experience” tailored to each customer’s ability and expectations are the foundations for which Jared finds his passion.

Steven Lewis ~ Apprentice Golf Professional

Steven Lewis, originally from New Richmond, Ohio, attends the Professional Golfers Career College and will be graduating with an associate’s degree in April 2009. Steven first joined the team as an Outside Attendant in January 2008 and with enthusiasm and hard work has quickly made Tradition a home. In addition to attending the Professional Golfers Career College, Steven has begun the PGA Professional Golf Management Program and has chosen to begin his Golf Professional career here.

Katie Black ~ Golf Shop Coordinator

Katie Black joined the Tradition National Golf Course team in August 2007 as the Golf
Shop Coordinator.

Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, Katie attended Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. While in school, she worked in the golf shop at Roanoke Country Club for two years. Before joining the Tradition team, she worked as a sales representative in the Hilton Head area over the past three years.

Rich Maxfield ~ Golf Course Superintendent

Rich Maxfield is the golf course superintendent at Tradition National. After receiving a Bachelor of Horticultural Science degree from Michigan State University, this Michigan native headed south to continue his career in the golf industry. With twenty years of experience in golf course maintenance, renovation, and construction, he has worked with leading architects, builders and developers in the industry and has developed a thorough understanding of golf course development and operations. Prior to the course's opening, he oversaw all aspects of course construction, grow-in and start-up. The par 72 Tradition National Golf Course opened for play October 1, 2007. Rich lives in Bluffton with his rescued Black Lab / Great Dane mix, Colonel.

Brandon Cheek

Brandon Cheek is a South Carolina Lowcountry native with a short, albeit rich history and background in the golf industry. Brandon has nurtured his love for golf course architecture, design and maintenance by working on golf courses since age 14, culminating in his desire to attend Clemson University and enter the field of Turfgrass Science and horticultural studies in 2003. After his four-year tenure at Clemson, Brandon was named assistant golf course superintendent at Tradition National Golf Course in May 2007 and now resides in Bluffton, South Carolina. A true southern boy at heart, when he’s not on the golf course you can find him fishing on the boat or hunting in the woods of the Lowcountry.

Adam Cribbet

Adam Cribbet originates from Batavia, Ohio where he got his start in the golf course industry at the age of 13. Cribbet worked on golf courses in the summer months while Batavia High School and later moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 2000 to attend Turf School at Horry-Georgetown Technical College. After his tenure at Tech he moved to Bluffton to begin his career in the golf course industry and has been in the Lowcountry for about five years. He has worked at two other high-end area clubs and was recently named Equipment Technician/ Assistant Superintendent at Tradition. When he is not on the clock, you may find Adam somewhere on the banks fishing in the marsh, relaxing at home, or somewhere on the course.
